Chapter 6

Crimson passed the sign stating they had just passed city limits of St. Louis. She sighed happily. "Finally."

Saben gave out a sigh of relief. "After a year of searching..."

Crimson nodded. Zombies were still wandering around but that was expected. She slowed the bike down a bit more so they could take it all in.

Saben grinned from ear to ear. He was bursting with happiness.

Crimson looked around. She saw a flyer or two on a telephone pole about the refuge. She stopped and picked one up. She didn't remember where they exactly said it was so it was good to have some clue.

Saben looked over her shoulder to read the flyer. He wondered what the refuge looked like.

They were looking for Forest Park Ave. Crimson guessed they made this refuge before the disease even got to the United States.

Forest Park Avenue? He didn't know where anything was at. He probably wouldn't have even been in Missouri if it wasn't for Crimson.

Crimson flipped over the flyer to see a map. Great! she thought. They were to turn left on North Grand Blvd.

He smiled as she flipped the paper over. He was glad that some people were prepared.

Crimson continued on the directions until they got to Forest Park. She saw a small shack type thing. It must be the entrance.

Saben felt tired. He barely got any sleep. He looked on with the same smile. So close.

Crimson pulled up to the door. To her surprise the door was a little cracked open.

Saben slid off of the bike. He cautiously walked towards the door.

Crimson walked up behind him. Her bat was in her hand ready.

He slowly opened the door. It creaked open. Saben's eyes began to adjust to the darkness. "No..."

"What is it?" Crimson asked.

Saben's heart fell. "T-they're..." he took out his crowbar and held it in front of his face. A low moaning was heard inside the refuge.

"Zombies." Crimson finished with a whisper.

Saben sighed. He slapped a zombie in the head with the head of the crowbar. He felt disappointed. All that way for nothing...

Crimson sparked an idea. "Get away from the door." She told him. She walked a little ways away.

He backed away with her. "Okay...?" he looked at her questioningly.

The zombies started pouring out. Crimson gestured for him to stand by her. She grabbed her helmet from the bike and put it on. She began smacking off heads.

He began to do the same. He wondered what she was planning.

The zombies stopped coming out from the refuge. Crimson noted this and continued to hit the zombies with her bat. She was smiling behind her helmet.
