Chapter 4

Crimson walked her way to where her bike was. More zombie piles seemed to have formed. She tilted her head at them. "Odd." she stated before going to her bike. She didn't notice the boy until after she got her helmet on. He didn't have the signs of the virus but just to be safe she got on her bike and revved the engine.

Saben's eyes grew wide. A survivor? He hadn't really seen any survivors lately. He got up slowly and shakily. "H-hey." he said cautiously. "Have you heard anything about survivors in St. Louis?"

Crimson nodded slowly. She looked the boy up and down through her tinted helmet eye protector. He was covered in blood, but then again... wasn't she also?

"Do you know if that rumor is true?" Saben asked slowly. He didn't want to go to St. Louis for nothing. He looked Crimson over. He couldn't tell the gender through her leather jacket and helmet, and he had a hunch that she wasn't much of a talker.

She shook her head. Crimson then saw a zombie rushing behind him. She got off her bike and put the kickstand down. By the time that happened the zombie was already behind him. She moved swift and stabbed it through its forehead, her bat dangerously close to Saben's face.

Saben's eyes were wide. He moved his head slowly, the bat inches from his face to see the zombie. "T-thanks..." he said shakily. "Are you headed for St. Louis by chance?"

Crimson nodded. She didn't trust this boy very well. He didn't seem to be the type to fight, or do much else. But she was going to need someone with her and he seemed to be the only candidate. She rolled her eyes at the thought.

"You mean you actually know where you're going?" he said excitedly. He then sighed and slunk down. "You probably don't want me tagging along, though..."

Crimson sighed softly, it was muffled by the helmet though. She got on her bike and nodded for him to get on too.

His eyes gleamed. "Are you sure?" he didn't want for an answer. He hopped on to the bike behind her.

Crimson's gloved hand reached behind her and grabbed something out of the left saddle bag. It was a blue helmet that matched her red one. She handed it to him.

He strapped it on his head. He looked around nervously through the tinted helmet. He had never been on a dirt bike.

Crimson rolled her eyes and grabbed his hands. She wrapped them around her waist before taking off. They ripped through the bushes where they had been hiding and down the body ridden road.

He kept a scream from escaping. He held on for dear life as they ripped through the road and everything past by.

Zombies heard the engine and came running. Crimson glared at the road ahead. She couldn't let go of the handle bars with two people. They'd fall. She turned the gas harder and they started moving faster. This was dangerous as well but Crimson couldn't afford to get them both caught. If it came down to it she'd push the boy off.

Still holding on tight, Saben released one shaky hand. He took his crowbar and held it by his side. He might need it if the zombies were to catch up.

Crimson smiled. That's the right idea. she thought. She revved the engine once more and they went flying. But soon the zombies were blown away and they could no longer be seen. She turned onto the interstate. After a while Crimson looked at the gas sign and sighed when she saw the gas was almost on empty. She remembered passing a sign that said something about a gas station being a mile away at the next exit. When it came up she took it.

Saben sighed as the zombies left sight. He took no notice of his pain as he began to check out the view. Blood and flesh were about splattered on everything. Occasionally a stray zombie would walk somewhere, but they were to far away to be of any harm.

Crimson stopped at the gas station when it came up. She put the pump into the bike. She grabbed the right saddle bag and handed it to Saben. "Go fill this with water and food." she ordered. Her voice muffled, making it hard to tell her gender. She turned away and watched the pump.

He laughed a little at her tone. "Yes Sir." he said, assuming it was a man. He walked away with the saddle bag, entering the empty store. Crashing sounds were heard and the sound of glass breaking raked through the air, accompanied by a low moan. Saben walked back with the bag full of water and food. A zombie head was stuck on his crowbar.

Crimson had just finished filling up when she saw him and his, "prize". She rolled her eyes and grabbed the saddle bag from him and attached it on. She then took a glass bottle out of the compartment on the seat. She also grabbed a blue slate rag. Crimson filled the bottle with gas and put the rag in it, a little bit sticking out. She created her very own Molotov, she grabbed a lighter and set off the rag. She then proceeded to throw it in the building. It exploded and she ran to her bike. She hopped on. "Get on." she demanded Saben.

He laughed, the zombie head sliding off as he hopped on and slapped the helmet on his head.

Crimson glared. He didn't take this seriously. She shook her head and continued onward. She looked back to see a hoard of zombies chasing to get to the gas station. Soon the fire would catch on to the trail she made to the gas pump and they'd all go up in smoke. This method didn't fail her. As soon as she got back on the interstate the gas station exploded. Crimson smirked under her helmet. The next sign passed stating 95 miles until they reached St. Louis. Crimson knew they'd have to stop for the night soon.

Saben looked at the explosion with a smile. He saw the sign but didn't process it until it past. They were nearing St. Louis?

The sun setted after awhile and Crimson decided they'd stop in Livingston. When they neared the exit a zombie jumped out. Crimson attempted to steer way from it but a claw hooked on her jacket and tore into it, leaving a good scratch in too.
