Chapter 8

"We only met an hour ago." he said. "Can I at least get to know you first?" he said, casting a glance at their shirts on the ground.

"So later?" Koralie asked.

Crimson slammed the door closed, thankful her other brake worked. She went down the stairs. "I'm back and I didn't-" she stopped when she saw the two shirtless. "See. I told you you didn't need me." she said in an emotionless tone. She walked back up the stairs and hurried to put the fluid in.

"No!" Saben said to Koralie, rolling over and standing up. He threw on his shirt and ran after Crimson. "Wait, it's not what it looks like." he said, even though she probably wouldn't believe him.

"Really?" Crimson looked up from her bike. "Explain why your shirts were off then."

"She ripped it off of me. Apparently she doesn't know the word 'no.'" he replied.

Crimson spat. She threw the bottle aside. "It doesn't matter. I'm leaving now anyway." She put her helmet back on and started her bike.

"Wait!" Saben pleaded. He didn't know what to say to make her stay. He probably wouldn't even succeed. But he needed to try, at least.

Crimson looked at him. "What?"

Oh shit. "Don't leave." he begged quietly. His mind raced for a reason for her to stay. Anything to make her stay.

"Why?" She glared at him through the tint.

"Um..." he started. THINK! his mind screamed at him. No you. he shot back. "It will be safer here with all of us. Maybe we could re-create the base." he suggested the randomest thing that came to mind. That wasn't the reason he wanted her to stay, though.

"It won't be safer for me." Crimson said. "Or any of you."

"Why isn't it safe for you?" he asked. "If it's not safe, then we can just move out of there..."

"BECAUSE I'M SICK!" Crimson screamed at him.
