Chapter 13

Damien didn't answer, instead slowly walking and looking around the store.

Saben still sat on the bike with droopy eyes.

Crimson went over to Saben and touched his shoulder. "You okay?"

Saben jolted upright. "Yeah, of course." he said, before falling off of the bike without so much as a gasp.

Crimson sighed and grabbed his sleeve. She pulled him to his feet. "C'mon. Damien will say "I told you so" if you don't wake up a bit. Maybe they have coffee in here." she suggested.

Saben nodded, walking towards the store.

Damien silently walked around, when he heard a soft moan. Suddenly a bloated zombie man charged at him, stumbling short as a nail went right between his eyes.

Crimson looked back in time to see Damien defend himself. She sighed, thinking, Why can't Saben have reflexes like that... before going into the store with Saben. "Stay close," she murmured to him when she got to his side. She walked through the isles until she got to a coffee machine. Decaf... Regular... Cappuccino... she read. Obviously decaf was out of the question. "Choose one." she told him, demanding more than requesting.

Saben blinked, trying to get his vision to adjust. "Uh... Regular?" he said sheepishly, scared slightly by Crimson's tone.

Crimson looked around for anyway to get the coffee into the machine. She found a drawer underneath containing the coffee grounds. She poured a bunch of water in from nearby water bottles and put the coffee grounds in and started up the machine, thankful that power still ran in the little store. Crimson then looked around to see if Damien was watching. Satisfied that he wasn't she slapped Saben.

Saben gasped loudly as her hand met his face. "What was that for?!" he demanded.

"Act like you can actually survive! the only thing successful that you have done was save me from becoming one of them and the only way you did it was by fucking a girl that has already died! WHY DON'T YOU ACT MORE LIKE DAMIEN!" Crimson's eyes were full of fire as she stared at him.

Saben couldn't answer. All he could do was fumble around with words.

Damien peaked his head from behind a shelf, water bottles in both of his hands. "Um, is everything okay over here?

Crimson looked at Damien and the fire diminished. "Everything is fine..." she sighed softly. "Um... Damien... Just stay with him. I'll be right back..." She walked away without another word and went into the bathroom.

Damien nodded. The two stood awkwardly together, the silence not helping.

The coffee machine dinged and ruined the silence. The water could be heard running in the bathroom.

Saben grabbed the pot and started to poor his coffee. After a couple of moments he finally spoke up. "So... Uh... What about that weather?"

Damien gave him a strange look before answering. "It's alright..."

There was a crash in the bathroom as though something broke.

Saben dropped the coffee and picked up the nearest thing, and the two rushed towards the bathroom. Damien opened the door, jumping in front armed with his nail gun. Saben stood close behind, armed with a water bottle.

Crimson was on the floor, hands bleeding from the broken mirror pieces that littered around her.

Saben and Damien rushed to her side. "What happened?" they asked simultaneously. "Are you okay?"

"I-I'm fine... I just thought I saw something... It was nothing... But I kinda... Hit the mirror and everything was broken." She stared down at the good amount of blood that was dripping from her hands. Glass pieces stuck out.

Damien grabbed one of her arms. "Alright, let's get back to the safehouse."

Crimson followed. She was tired and her head was killing her. "I'm sorry..." she apologized.

Damien frowned. "It's fine. Just be more cautious next time." he answered. Saben walked closely behind them, ready to beat some ass with that waterbottle.

When they got to the bikes Crimson realized she couldn't drive her's. "Fuck!" She looked at Damien. There was no way in this Hell she'd allow Saben to drive her bike.
