Chapter 10

"What are you asking from me then?" Crimson asked.

"It doesn't matter any more..." he said. "You said yourself that you'd be safer on your own. I don't want you to have to be bit again..." he reasoned.

Crimson walked over to him and touched his shoulder. "What is it?"

Saben flinched under her touch. He didn't answer.

Crimson forcibly turned him around. "Look at me. What is it?"

"I should get back." he said evasively. "It's getting dark."

Crimson frowned. "Fine. Get out." She walked away and back into the room.

Saben sighed and walked away, back to the badly damaged car. It had dents in the hood and there was a small crack in the windsheild.

Crimson sighed as well and slammed the door shut, not helping her cause of the zombies that Saben already brought with his car driving.

That's when Saben saw the dim light fading from the headlights. "Shit!" he hissed, jumping in to the car. It wouldn't start. He had left it running. Saben cursed, leaning up against the seat. He gripped his crowbar as zombies wandered around the car. No sleep for him tonight.

Zombies walked the halls. "God dammit Saben!" Crimson cursed. Her best bet was to jump out the window again, but who knew how many zombies he had attracted.

Saben sighed, trying to blend in to the seat. A zombie spotted him and began to bang on one of the windows.

Crimson heard the banging. She raced to the window to see Saben's predicament. "You are so lucky I'm doing this." She whispered softly before launching herself out the window. She did a front flip forwards and landed in a crouch onto of a zombie. She had her helmet on and her bat in her head. She slammed the bat on the ground and smashed the zombie's face in. She raced over to Saben's car.

Saben's eyes widened. "What are you doing?" he yelled, though his voice was muffled by the car. Now they were both going to be stuck.

"Saving your ass." she replied sharply. She hopped on the hood of the car and smashed the bat into the zombie that was banging on the window.

"You're going to get yourself killed!" he said, jumping out of the car.

"Shut up!" Crimson snapped. "I will not you idiot!" She jumped of the hood and started swinging at on coming zombies.

Saben slashed at the nearest zombies. "Damn it..." he hissed under his breath. Zombies started to climb into and on to the car, damaging the already dented vehicle.

Crimson knew they were no match for the gathering crowd. "Shit..." She cursed to herself. She grabbed Saben's hand. "Let's go!" she said through the helmet. She dragged him all the way back to where her bike was.

Saben half followed, half dragged by Crimson. "Damn it... Why did you do that?"

"Because you were in my sight and I knew you weren't going to last long. I'm not going to let you die when I have a chance to save you!" she told him. Tears were forming down her cheeks but were unseen because of the darkness and helmet. She got on her bike and tossed him the second helmet.

Saben sighed. "I'm sorry. Thanks for saving me." he said gratefully.

Crimson pulled up the tinted plastic and wiped her eyes. "Whatever." she tried to act like she didn't care, failing miserably.

Saben saw her wipe her eyes but didn't say anything. He'd never really seen her give off any emotion except anger.

Crimson looked over. "Hold on tight!" she commanded before setting off the bike, leaving skid marks in the dirt. They rode back into the woods just like they had one day ago.
